Franklin Roosevelt came into his presidency at one of the worst times known to Americans. The United States was in the worst economic depression. He had a plan and he was ready to get things done. For this I think that Roosevelt deserves a A for all the hard work he had to put into the country from the start.

One of the biggest goals that Roosevelt prepared to execute was his "New Deal Plan" He wasted no time on trying to get the economy back on the right track. Right after he was inaugurated Roosevelt got the Emergency Bank Act which allowed all banks to reopen. Another act that was favored by many and a personal favorite Roosevelt was the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). This act gave over 250,000 man jobs in rural areas. The Fair Labor Standard
Act which set the minimum wage for workers. There was many more acts which Roosevelt develpoded that are still around today. He did a great job of setting a goal and getting it done the best way he could.

Roosevelt had a great realationship with congress becuase a majority of the member were also Democratic. Due to this he had no problem getting all his acts passed even when it met spending an excessive amount in one institutions like the army. Roosevelt wanted to increase the army budget to one billion dollars and the congress agreed with him. The country had so many problems with economic debt yet they were willing to put faith in one person to spend a billion dollars. The country to gain from it though there was a lot going on with foreign nations. The country was still battling with Germany and the Nazis whle the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.

One of the best decisions Roosevelt had was not going into the European war right away because he knew the country could not handle another war at that point. The suffered so much because of WWI that another war could have destroyed the U.S. The U.S. was just coming out of their economic slump from WWI. Later when Roosevelt actually announced that we would help the allies was also very smart of him. He saw that they were becoming very desperate and neded aid badly. So I guess the best decscion made by Roosevelt was a good judgement called on going into to war to soon.

Probably the only bad decision Roosevelt made was putting Japenese-American and people of other racial background into concentration camps. Even though some of them could have been traders and spying on the U.S. this does not give him a right to lock innocent people up based on their ethnicity. One of the reason immigrants came to the U.S. is to have a better opportunity in life and what he did could have squashed many hopes of people through out the world.

Roosevelt was a very influential president. Many of the acts and plans he started are still around today and are very important to a lot of people. If it wasn't for Roosevelt caring about the less fortunate American at that time we might never have had some of the programs he' created. He set the stage for Johnson's Great Society which was sort of the same thing he just focused on a certain group.

I think the country was way better off when Roosevelt came into presidency. He help set many programs for America that helped them live better and healthier lives. He also got the ecomony back on it's feet and let the country through WWII. Since Roosevelt served the most terms of any other president he accomplished a great deal. That is why I believe he deserves the letter grade of an A.
